Pressure Points Can Serve to Bring About Growth
“Consider it pure joy, ,my brothers, whenever you face trails of many kinds.” (James 1:2)
Most people react negatively to unpleasant events. Yet what we regard as painful is often, from God's perspective, an opportunity for growth.
In our text there is a Greek word, peirasmos, translated either as trial or temptation.
A trial is an external test of faith.
A temptation is an internal test of faith.
Properly understood, both provide opportunities for deeper maturity.
God may lead us into trials, while our own desires lead us into temptations.
